Âmbar Energia closes agreement to acquire 12 plants from Eletrobras

Deal of up to R$ 4.7 billion increases the generation capacity of the J&F group company to 4.6 GW

São Paulo, June 10, 2024 – Âmbar Energia, part of the J&F group, today signed agreements for the acquisition of Eletrobras’ portfolio of thermoelectric power plants. The deal involves the acquisition of 12 natural gas-fired power plants in operation and a project for the implementation of a natural gas-fired thermoelectric plant in Manaus (AM).

Together, the 13 units have an installed capacity of 2.1 gigawatts (GW) of energy, which expands Âmbar’s portfolio to 4.6 GW. The transaction is worth up to R$4.7 billion, of which R$1.2 billion is earn-out.

Currently, Âmbar has 27 power generation plants from different sources. There are 5 thermoelectric plants, 16 hydroelectric plants, 5 photovoltaic plants and one biogas plant, in addition to 102 rooftop photovoltaic plants.

Twelve new generation units are located in the state of Amazonas and are of fundamental importance in supplying the region. The Santa Cruz plant is located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, one of the largest energy consuming centers in Brazil. The entry into these two new states contributes to Âmbar’s geographic diversification.

“This deal reflects our commitment to the growth and development of companies, people and the economy of the states and Brazil, contributing to the country’s energy security,” said Marcelo Zanatta, CEO of Âmbar Energia.
