Âmbar takes over Amazonas Energia and starts a new phase of the distributor

With the conclusion of the transfer of control, the company is now called Âmbar Energia; The priority of the new management is the improvement of services and financial rebalancing

Amazonas Energia is now Âmbar Energia and is part of the largest Brazilian business group. The transfer of control of the energy distributor that serves the state was approved by all competent bodies and completed last Friday (10), marking the beginning of a new phase for the energy distribution service in Amazonas.

The new management assumes the commitment to improve the quality of services provided to the population, based on three strategic fronts: modernization of the distribution network, increased operational efficiency and economic and financial rebalancing.

With 11 years of experience in the energy sector, Âmbar is currently one of the largest electricity generators in the country, with 59 plants, 12 of which are located in Amazonas. The company is part of the J&F group, one of the largest Brazilian business conglomerates, with 73 years of experience in sectors such as food, mining and pulp. The group is present in more than 20 countries, has more than 300 thousand employees and recorded net revenue of more than R$ 500 billion in 2025.

“The J&F group has a consistent track record in transforming challenging businesses. Therefore, we are confidently committed to acting with respect and promoting continuous improvements for the entire Amazonian population, both in the capital and in the countryside”, says João Pilla, president of Âmbar Energia in the Distribution area. Pilla has more than 40 years of experience in the J&F group, having led the Technology area before taking over the company in Amazonas.

The company’s evolution will be monitored through indicators of quality of services and economic and financial sustainability. The transfer of control was approved by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Federal Court, as part of the solution for the recovery of the distributor.
