Âmbar completes acquisition of four hydroelectric plants from Cemig in Minas Gerais

Operation reinforces the company’s presence in renewable generation

Âmbar Energia, a company of the J&F group, concluded on Thursday (10/16) the acquisition of four hydroelectric plants from Cemig, all located in Minas Gerais. Together, the units add up to 14.8 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity.

The operation is the result of the auction held at B3, in December 2024, in which Âmbar won the bid for the acquisition, in a single lot, of the Marmelos plants (4.0 MW), in Juiz de Fora; Martins (7.7 MW), in Uberlândia; Sincerity (1.4 MW), in Manhuaçu; and Machado Mineiro (1.7 MW), in Águas Vermelhas.

With the conclusion of the process, Âmbar now operates 20 hydroelectric units in Minas Gerais and Santa Catarina, expanding its presence in renewable generation. Currently, the company has a portfolio of 50 generating units, considering businesses in the closing phase: solar, hydroelectric, biodiesel, biomass, biogas, natural gas, among others.

This move reinforces the company’s strategy of maintaining a broad and complementary portfolio of sources, supporting the energy transition to a low-carbon matrix in the country. “Âmbar’s priority is to ensure energy security for the country, and this is only possible with a diversified portfolio of assets. The acquisition of these hydroelectric plants reinforces our strategy of acting on all fronts that sustain the transition in a responsible manner”, says Marcelo Zanatta, president of Âmbar Energia.
