\u00c2mbar Energia, a business unit of the J&F group, has signed an agreement to acquire the Norte Fluminense Thermoelectric Power Plant and the construction project of the Norte Fluminense 2 Thermoelectric Power Plant, both located in Maca\u00e9, Rio de Janeiro, one of the most strategic areas for the Brazilian electricity system. The conclusion of the transaction is subject to the analysis and approval of the competent regulatory bodies. <\/p>\n

The acquisition reinforces the company’s operations in the Southeast region and expands its ability to offer safe and flexible energy to the market. Considered one of the most efficient thermoelectric plants in Brazil, Norte Fluminense operates in a combined cycle with natural gas from the Campos Basin, with three gas turbines and one steam turbine, totaling 827 megawatts (MW) of power. <\/p>\n

The acquisition also includes the Norte Fluminense 2 project, which provides for the construction of a new plant of approximately 1,800 MW \u2013 equivalent to 19% of the electrical capacity currently installed in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The plant will have three independent generation sets, operating in a combined cycle using natural gas and water vapor. <\/p>\n

With the integration of Norte Fluminense into the portfolio, \u00c2mbar’s installed capacity will exceed 7.1 gigawatts (GW), divided into 56 generation units in 12 states, including hydroelectric, solar, nuclear, biomass, biogas, natural gas, fuel oil and coal plants.<\/p>\n

In the state of Rio de Janeiro, \u00c2mbar already owns the Santa Cruz TPP, in the capital, with a capacity of 500 MW, and signed an agreement to acquire 68% of the total capital of Eletronuclear, owner of the Angra I and Angra II plants and the Angra III project. “The incorporation of Norte Fluminense strengthens our presence in Rio de Janeiro, in a strategic region close to the largest load centers in the country, and reinforces our position as a relevant agent for the security and stability of the national electricity system”, said Marcelo Zanatta, president of \u00c2mbar Energia. “We are building an increasingly robust portfolio prepared to support the country’s energy transition,” he added. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
